Cloth Diapering #1: Mother Ease

I decided to write up a few posts (I say a few because we use several different kinds) on Cloth Diapers. I'll give information on each kind/brand and share my likes and dislikes, etc. Cloth diapering can seem a bit overwhelming when you're first starting out, so hopefully this will help somebody :)  Here is Post #1.

These are Mother Ease One Size snap cloth diapers. They are a two-step cloth diaper, which means they have a separate cover, such as the one shown in photo (C.) You also have the option of adding a liner (the part hanging down in photo (B.). You do not HAVE to use the liner, but the diaper can be used longer with the liner than without as the liner absorbs more. This particular diaper is adjustable from 8-35 lbs. I currently use this diaper on my 6 month old and my 2.5 year old.

+ The cover can be used 3-4 times before needing a new one. This differs from pocket or insert diapers as those covers need to be switched out with each diaper change. Less cover changes = less laundry.

+ My boys rarely leak out of these diapers. The cover fits tightly around the waist and thighs so liquid (and solids!) stay put. The liners also lessen chances of leaking for us.

- These particular diapers tend to be a little too snug around my chunky boys' legs. They are usually left with a ring (almost rash like) around their thighs after wearing them.

-/+ These are a little more work than say, a pocket diaper when it comes to putting the diaper on, since its a two step diaper (Put on diaper, then put on cover). But less work when it comes to laundering since there's no stuffing and unstuffing inserts. I wash with the liners still attached (like in photo B.)

+The material is pretty soft (terry cloth), and diaper rash is not usually an issue for us.

+They are easy to keep clean
and we don't have an issue with odor. Sun-bleaching keeps them nice and stain free.
