A Pocket Diaper is a diaper cover that has an opening (like shown in picture F.) for a specially designed insert (like shown in photo's A. and E.) to be placed inside. The insert sits between a waterproof cover and a special liner that wicks away wetness. This is a two part cloth diapering system (cover and insert) but are worn like an All in One diaper (its worn and goes on in one piece).
We have several different kinds of pocket diapers, including Fuzzi Bunz (which can be found here: http://www.fuzzibunz.com/one_size_diaper.php ) and Haute Pocket diapers (found here: http://clothdiaperclearance.com/catalog.php?category=500 )
+ Grows with your baby. Most have snaps so you can adjust the size. My 6 month old and my 2 year old can wear the same diaper, I simply adjust the snaps. Most go from 7-35 lbs.
- The entire diaper needs to switched out at each change, including the cover.
+ The wet insert isn't sitting directly on the skin, the liner provides a thin barrier to keep moisture off baby. Most liners are made of a special material that wick away moisture while keeping mostly dry on the skin side.
- / +The inserts need to be removed prior to washing. This means an added step before washing, and another added step after washing to put the inserts back in the pocket. *But* once the inserts are in, they're quick to put on, fast and easily and goes on just like a disposable diaper.
